The college basketball schedule for the 2024-25 regular season kicks off for most teams on November 4th, 2024. DI teams play around 30 games give or take through early March. Then, it’s time for conference tournaments to determine the respective league’s automatic bid to the NCAA basketball tournament. March Madness starts on March 18th, 2025, and runs through the NCAA Tournament Championship. 2024-25 College Basketball Regular Season
The 2024-25 NCAA Division I men’s basketball season runs from November 4th through March 16th, 2025. This also includes the windows for the respective conference tournaments. Everything gets wrapped up in time for the NCAA Selection Sunday Broadcast on Sunday, March 16th. Then, we get the First Four kicking off on March 18th in the 2025 edition of March Madness. The 2025 NCAA Men’s Basketball D-I championship game is on April 7th. The championship is being held at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas this season.
When do the 2024-25 College Basketball Schedules get Released?
All of the Division I men’s basketball schedules have been released. The majority of teams kickoff the season on November 4th. Some regular season starts occur a few days later depending on the team. There are 350 teams in men’s D-I basketball this season.
Conference Realignment for the 2024-25 College Basketball Season
There are 23 schools in new conferences for the 2024-25 college basketball season. Of the 23, 20 are schools that moved within D-I (similar to football, but not all inclusive). There are two schools that are starting the reclassification process from D II, and Chicago State joins the Northeast Conference after being independent the last two years. Here’s the list of all of the schools who moved this season. Of note, Oregon State and Washington State will compete in the WCC conference tournament this season with no tournament scheduled for the PAC-12.
