How to Use These Rankings

A ranking is a starting point, not a script. The sharpest drafters pick a build early and draft every pick to reinforce it. In nine-category leagues the most common edge is punting: intentionally giving up one or two categories so your roster dominates the rest. Punt free-throw percentage to stack shot-blocking bigs, or punt assists to load up on scoring wings. Decide your punt by the second or third round based on who falls to you.

In snake drafts, take multi-category contributors early (the top of this board is full of them), then target specialists to shore up your build. In auction drafts, spend most of your budget on three or four stars and fill the back half with value and upside. Either way, draft for a balanced category spread rather than raw scoring, and leave a bench spot or two for high-upside young players who can break out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the No. 1 pick in 2026-27 fantasy basketball?

Nikola Jokic is the consensus No. 1 overall pick for standard category leagues, with Victor Wembanyama and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander rounding out the top three.

Where should I draft Cooper Flagg?

Cooper Flagg is the top rookie and lands inside the top 15 on this board. He is a strong multi-category contributor, but temper early expectations on efficiency as he adjusts to the NBA.

Are these rankings for category or points leagues?

The big board reflects standard nine-category value. For points leagues, bump high-usage scorers up a few spots and value efficiency and defensive stats slightly less.

When should I draft my fantasy basketball team?

Draft in the week or two before the regular season opens on October 20, 2026, once preseason has clarified rotations and roles.
