2024 marks the 88th edition of The Masters. We have the list of The Masters winners by year for you to check out below. We also include the score the champion shot to earn the Green Jacket. The tournament first started in 1934, and it is the first of four major golf championships to be played every year.
It is also the only Major to use the same course every year, the Augusta National Golf Club. Jack Nichlaus has won the tournament the most (six times). He was also the oldest champion at 46 years and 82 days old when winning in 1986.
Which Player has the Lowest Score in a Round at the Masters?
Nick Price owns the honor of the lowest single round score at the Masters. He shot a 63 in 1986 (Jack Nicklaus won the tournament that year). Greg Norman tied him in 1996, but also lost the tournament that year to Nick Faldo.
What was the Highest Score to Win the Masters?
The highest score to win the Masters was originally made by Sam Snead in 1954. He shot a 289 for the four rounds (+1). This score has been tied twice since then. Jack Burke, Jr. shot +1 in 1956 and Zach Johnson in 2007. It just shows that year-by-year, Augusta National can prove to be extremely difficult based on how much rain there has or has not been and the setup of the course.
What is the 2024 Masters Purse Size?
The 2024 Masters purse is estimated to be at least $18 million USD this year. The winner’s share is 18 percent of the purse, which is roughly $3.24 million. The purse will be formally announced on Saturday after the cut is made (post 36 holes to include the top 50 with ties). The 2023 Master’s champion earned 3.24 million as well.
