If you are wondering about college football in Ireland, then you should know the Aer Lingus College Football Classic is kicking off the 2024-25 regular season. This year, fans are treated with FSU (Florida State Universy) playing Georgia Tech on August 24th, 2024. This marks the first time that FSU has played overseas when they play the Yellow Jackets in Aviva Stadium. There are expected to be more than 51,000 fans in attendance for the game. 

College Football in Ireland – Aer Lingus College Football Classic Schedule

The Aer Lingus College Football Classic is the first game of the 2024-25 college football regular season. The game is scheduled for kickoff at noon Eastern Time. ESPN will not only cover the game live, but College Game Day will be at the game for their first appearance of the season. This is one of four games that make up “Week Zero” of the college football season. While FSU has not played in Ireland before, Georgia Tech played in Dublin in 2016 against Boston College (winning the game). 

What’s the Big Deal about the Aer Lingus College Football Classic?

We take football for granted in the United States. It’s a huge cultural deal when you head across the Atlantic for college football in Ireland. The pep rallies, tailgating, and exchange of Irish culture to the American audience and students is huge. At halftime, the FSU Marching Chiefs will deliver a performance of “Danny Boy” blending favorites of the two cultures. This will also be the first time that the Heisman Trophy has traveled outside of the United States. It will be on display in Dublin, Ireland during the event. 

Who is Playing in the 2025 Aer Lingus College Football Classic? 

We already have a the 2025 College Football Classic scheduled. Fans will get to see Kansas State and Iowa State play each other next season. This will make Dublin the European capital of college football for sure. 

2024-25 College Football Postseason

The 2024-25 college football postseason will see a 12 team playoff this season. Not only that, but we get to still enjoy our bowl game schedule too. A big treat for fans is seeing FSU kick off week 0 on their trek to try and win the ACC again and a shot at the College Football Playoff championship
