2024 Ivy League Basketball Tournament Schedule

The 2024 Ivy League Basketball Tournament schedule commences on March 16, 2024. The tournament is the shortest in Division I men’s college basketball. Only the top four seeded teams from regular season play earn a spot in the tournament. The Ivy League Championship game is schedule for March 17, 2024. The tournament is known as “Ivy Madness.” It occurs at Levien Gymnasium at Columbia University in New York City. The winner of the tournament earns the conference’s automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament.

How Does Ivy Madness Seeding Work for the Tournament?

With there being eight teams in the conference, there will likely be ties for the overall conference record. In order to reduce the eligible teams to four, the league uses a tie breaking system. First, if two teams are tied, their head-head record is used. If still tied, then the record against the top teams in order of conference record is used. The final tiebreaker uses metrics. The league uses an average of the NCAA NET, KenPom, NCAA NET, and ESPN BPI to break the tie.

Who is the Favorite in the 2024 Ivy League Men’s Basketball Tournament?

So far, Cornell, Yale, and Princeton have achieved separation from the rest of the league during conference play. The other five teams have been lagging a bit in conference play. The rest of the regular season is likely going to determine the #4 seed. We can possibly see a team get hot to move up to the #3 seed. Don’t underestimate the Pennsylvania Quakers going on a run late either as they have the conference’s only win over an AP ranked team. In a two-day tournament, any of the teams who earn a spot in the field have a shot to win.
