When Does the NBA Season Start in 2024-25?
So, if you want to know when does the NBA season start in 2024-25, it is on Tuesday, October 22nd, 2024. To celebrate the opening of the season, we get to enjoy the Kia NBA Tip-Off 2024 this year. The first five days of the regular season (October 22nd through October 26th) feature 11 nationally televised games for us this season. On opening day, we get to enjoy a double header on TNT. The first game sees the Celtics host the New York Knicks. The second game will see the Minnesota Timberwolves playing at the LA Lakers for the start of LeBron’s 22nd season in the league.
How Many Games Does Each NBA Team Play in 2024-25?
Just like past seasons, each NBA team is scheduled to play 82 games this season. At the start, 80 of the games are set. There will be two additional games played between December 10th-16th to make it a total of 82 for the season. These games will be based on the results of Group Play in the 2024 Emirates NBA Cup. The Group Play schedule is held on Tuesdays and Fridays between November 12th and December 3rd this year.
Is the NBA Playing on Christmas Day this Season?
For the 204-25 NBA regular season, we’ll get to watch five games on Christmas this year. This will be the 17th year in a row that the NBA has played on the Holiday and 77th time in total. The ESPN family of networks will show all of the games this year. If you missed the memo, this includes ABC now too. The last game on Christmas evening features the Suns hosting the Denver Nuggets at 1030 PM ET.
When Does the NBA Regular Season End in 2024-25?
Just like last year, all 30 of the NBA teams will play on Friday, April 11th and on the last day of the season, Sunday, April 13th. There are no games set for Saturday, April 12th. Additionally, to help ensure fairness for teams that will be in the Play-In, all of the Eastern Conference games will start at 1 PM ET. The seven games between Western Conference Teams and the one cross-conference team start at 3:30 PM ET.

Additional Schedule Highlights for the season include all 30 of the teams having at least one game on TNT or ESPN this season. Throughout the season, the league will use flexible scheduling to shift the most compelling matchups to the national TV audience. The NBA Finals 2025 presented by YouTube TV and the Western Conference Finals 2025 are set to be shown on ABC and ESPN/ABC respectfully. TNT will show the 2025 Eastern Conference Finals and the 2025 NBA All Star Game (February 16, 2025).
