The 2024 Presidents Cup Golf schedule runs from September 26th-29th, 2024. This will be the 15th edition of the tournament. The USA won the last contest between the USA and the World (minus Europe)in September 2022. The tournament is being held at Royal Montreal Golf Club in Canada.
What is the Presidents Cup?
The Presidents Cup is a four day team tournament between the United States and an International Team. The International team does not use European golfers since they play the US in the Ryder Cup. The Presidents Cup was first held in 1994. It alternates being held in the US and international hosts every tournament. After COVID, the tournament has shifted back to being played in even numbered years. The Cup is a four-day, match play event. There will be 30 total matches between the two 12 person teams. The team that earns the most points after the four days of competition wins the Presidents Cup.
How do Players Qualify for the Presidents Cup?
Each team has six spots that are determined through an automatic qualifying process for the Presidents Cup. The American team uses qualifying points based on the FedEx Cup points system starting on Jan 1, 2023 through August 24th, 2024. The top 6 on this list after the 2024 BMW Championship earn a spot. The International Team uses the OWGR (Official World Golf Ranking) for its six automatic qualifiers. They use the list through the BMW Championship as well but don’t have a start time set.
LIV golf players are not currently eligible (could this change in the negotiations? ) since the PGA runs the event. The other six players for each team are determined by captain’s picks. Jim Furyk is the US Captain, and Mike Weir is captain for the International side. We know that players like world #1 Scottie Scheffler is going to be on the team already. You can check out the current rankings for the team here too.

Who Won the 2022 Presidents Cup?
The United States won the 14th Presidents Cup. They beat the International Team by a score of 17.5 to 12.5. The event was played at Quail Hollow Club. The win put the United States at 12-1-1 all time and a perfect 8-0-0 when playing at home.
How is the Presidents Cup Unique?
So, one of the coolest things I think about the Presidents Cup is there isn’t any prize money. That’s right no purse, players don’t get paid. Each competitor gets to pick charities that their equal portion of the proceeds go to. Since the Presidents Cup started up in 1994, more than $56.4 million has been generated for these efforts. I think that’s pretty cool…and we get to see some good golf.
Will Tiger Woods Play in the 2024 Presidents Cup Golf?
As of right now, Tiger Woods is not part of the 2025 Presidents Cup golf team for the USA. The six at-large spots on the team will not be filled until after we know who the six automatic qualifiers are. Barring Tiger winning the British Open, we’ll likely see him advise the team in some fashion, but not as an active participant. The 2026 Ryder Cup on the other hand…could see Tiger as the captain of the team if he has time to play.
