The 2025 Cotton Bowl schedule takes place on January 10th, 2025. The game is one of the semifinal matchups in the 2024-25 College Football Playoff. How Will the 2024-25 College Football Playoff Work? 

We get to see 12 teams in the 2024-25 College Football Playoff this season. These games are in addition to the traditional bowl games that remain on the schedule for DI football teams. The four highest-ranked conference champions earn byes for the first round of the playoff. For these games, the higher-ranked team will be the host. The Cotton and Orange Bowls are the hosts for the semifinal round of play this postseason. 

What Stadium is the Cotton Bowl Played in? 

The Cotton Bowl is played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. It is the home field of the Dallas Cowboys. Goodyear is the sponsor of the game that is officially known as the Goodyear Cotton Bowl. The official capacity of the stadium is 80,000 fans and is expandable to 100,000.

Cotton Bowl History (Before the Playoff)

The Cotton Bowl has taken place in the Dallas-Fort Worth area since 1937. The game was originally played at the Cotton Bowl stadium before it moved to AT&T Stadium in Arlington in 2010. Goodyear Tire and Rubber company has been the sponsor of the game since 2014. The bowl originally hosted the Southwest Conference against a SEC runner-up or major independent until 1996. From then until 2014 it hosted a runner-up from the Big 12 against an SEC team until 2014. 

Cotton Bowl History (Since the College Football Playoff)

Since 2014, the Cotton Bowl Classic has been one of the six bowls in the College Football Playoff. The site has hosted three CPF semifinal games after the 2015, 2018, and 2021 seasons. The Cotton Bowl is hosting a semifinal for this postseason. For 2026, it will host a quarterfinal game.
