How the 2026-27 MAC season works

The Mid-American Conference has 12 members for 2026-27: Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Miami (OH), Ohio, Toledo, UMass and Western Michigan. Each team plays a 22-game league schedule, home and home against all 11 conference opponents, with the East-vs-West split retired in favor of a single standings race. League play tips off in early December and runs through the first week of March, and where a team finishes sets its seed for the MAC Tournament.

The top eight teams in the final standings advance to the 2027 MAC Tournament, March 10 to 13 at Rocket Arena in Cleveland. The top two seeds receive a bye straight to the semifinals and seeds three and four get a bye to the quarterfinals, so the regular-season race carries real weight. The tournament champion takes the MAC’s automatic NCAA Tournament bid.
