How the Nations League Works
Teams play a six-game league phase against the others in their group, home and away. What happens next depends on the league:
- League A: the four group winners meet in two-legged quarter-finals in March 2027. The four winners advance to the Final Four in June 2027, a single-venue semi-finals, third-place game, and final that crowns the champion.
- Promotion and relegation: group winners in Leagues B, C, and D move up a tier for the next edition, while the bottom sides in Leagues A, B, and C drop down, with some spots decided by play-offs.
- Euro 2028 safety net: Nations League results again feed the European Championship qualifying play-offs, giving teams a second path to the tournament.
