Foursomes, Fourballs, and Singles Explained

In foursomes (alternate shot), two players on a side share one ball and take turns hitting it. In fourballs (better ball), all four players play their own ball and the lower score of each pair counts. On Sunday, all 24 players go head to head in singles. Every match is worth one point, with a half-point each for a tie.

Teams and Captains

Angela Stanford leads the United States as it chases back-to-back titles, while Anna Nordqvist captains Europe on home-continent soil. Each team carries 12 players, now set, through a mix of qualification points and captain’s picks (three for the United States, four for Europe).
