How Wristband Play Cards Work

A wristband play card turns your playbook into a quick number call. First, use the master play-call key to number your plays: write each play name next to a number, along with its formation and any notes. Then copy those numbers onto the fill-in play cards, cut a card out, and fold it into the clear window of a quarterback wristband. On the field, you call the number, everyone checks their card, and the team lines up fast without a huddle. It is the same system college and pro teams use, scaled down for flag football.

Setting Up Your Play Numbers

Keep the numbering simple so players remember it. Group your plays so a range of numbers means one thing, for example 1 to 10 for runs and quick screens, 11 to 20 for pass routes, and 21 to 30 for special or trick plays. Fill in the master key once, then write those same numbers on every player’s card so the whole team is on the same page. When you add or swap a play, update the key and reprint the cards. Design your plays first on our flag football play sheet, then transfer the best calls to these wristband cards.

Flag Football Wristband Play Cards FAQ

How many plays fit on a card?

Each card has 20 numbered boxes, and there are six cards on the sheet. The master play-call key covers numbers 1 to 30, so you can carry more plays than most flag football teams run in a game.

Do these fit a standard wristband?

Yes. The cards are sized to cut out and fold into the clear window of a standard triple-window quarterback wristband. Trim along the outer border for the best fit.

How do I call plays by number?

Number your plays on the master key, put the matching numbers on each player’s card, and call a number on the field. Everyone reads the same card, so the team lines up quickly without a huddle.

Is it free to print?

Yes. The wristband play cards are a free PDF designed to print low-ink, so you can print a set for every player who needs one.
