2026 Indiana Fever: Preseason and Expansion Updates

Historic Preseason Matchup: Fever vs. Nigeria (May 2)

The Fever have added a high-profile international showcase to their preseason slate. On Saturday, May 2, the Fever will host the Nigeria Women’s National Team (ranked No. 8 in the world) at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. This is a rare opportunity to see Caitlin Clark and the Fever squad face off against top-tier Olympic-level talent before the regular season begins. Tickets for this special exhibition go on sale to the general public on Monday, March 30.

New Expansion Rivals: Portland Fire & Toronto Tempo

The WNBA officially expands to 15 teams in 2026 with the addition of the Portland Fire and Toronto Tempo.

  • The Matchups: The Fever will face both expansion teams three times each this season. You can catch the Fire at home on May 20, while the Tempo makes their first trip to Indianapolis on June 16.
  • Expansion Draft (April 3): Keep an eye on the roster move on April 3, as Portland and Toronto will select players from existing teams. The Fever can only “protect” five players, meaning some fan favorites could be headed to the new franchises.

Road Games Moving to NBA Arenas

Due to unprecedented ticket demand, four of the Fever’s road games have been relocated to larger NBA/NHL venues to accommodate more fans:

  • July 5: @ Las Vegas Aces (T-Mobile Arena)
  • August 8: @ Chicago Sky (United Center)
  • August 18: @ Toronto Tempo (Scotiabank Arena)

August 20: @ Dallas Wings (American Airlines Center)
