The 2024 SEC basketball tournament schedule is set to kick off on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. The men’s basketball postseason tourney wraps up with the championship game on Sunday, March 17th, 2024. The tournament will be held in Nashville, TN at Bridgestone Arena this year. Similar to past seasons, the tournament champion will earn an automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Who is the 2024 Favorite in the SEC Tournament?
It seems like it depends on the week. Early on, it didn’t seem like anyone could stop the juggernaut that is the Kentucky Wildcats this season. The Tennessee Volunteers and Auburn Tigers were both in the thick of things. If this postseason is similar to the past few years, it will likely be whoever gets hot in March. Some teams that are making runs who could have a good shot at the tourney include the Alabama Crimson Tide, South Carolina Gamecocks, and Ole Miss. South Carolina and Alabama have played extremely well this season, so it definitely looks like the SEC tournament will be fun to watch.
Where is the 2024 SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament being Played?
The 2024 SEC basketball tournament is being held at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. It is a multi-purpose indoor arena located downtown. Bridgestone was completed in 1996 (originally branded as the Nashville Arena). It has served as the home of the Nashville Predators of the NHL (National Hockey League) who has been the primary tenant since 1998.
Since then, the arena has been a regular host site for the NCAA Men’s Basketball and SEC basketball tournaments. The arena has hosted the SEC Men’s basketball tournament a total of eight times after the 2024 tourney and is scheduled to host it again next year. The seating capacity for basketball is 19,395 while it is slightly less for hockey games at 17,159 fans.

The SEC Men’s basketball tournament dates back to 1933. The league took a few decades off and resumed the tournament in 1979 after Kentucky won the 1978 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship. The last 10 men’s basketball tournament champions are listed below. No team was awarded the championship in 2020 since COVID resulted in the canx of March Madness! Overall, the Kentucky Wildcats have won the most tournament championships with 31. Alabama has won the second-most with eight followed by Tennessee at five, and the Florida Gators with four.
