How to Calculate Running Pace

Running pace is simply your finish time divided by the distance you covered. To get pace per mile, divide your total time in minutes by the number of miles. For example, running 3 miles in 27 minutes is a pace of 9 minutes per mile. Speed is the reverse: distance divided by time, usually shown in miles or kilometers per hour. The calculator above works out pace per mile, pace per kilometer, and both speeds at once, and it includes quick-pick buttons for the 5K, 10K, half marathon, and marathon.
