How an NFL Confidence Pool Works

In an NFL confidence pool, you pick a winner for every game on the weekly NFL schedule and then assign each game a confidence value. With a full 16-game slate you use every number from 16 down to 1, and each number is used only once. A correct pick earns the points you assigned it, so the games you feel surest about are worth the most.

At the end of the week you add up the points from your correct picks. The player with the highest weekly total wins that week, and most pools also keep a season-long leaderboard. Because you control where your big point values go, a confidence pool rewards smart risk management as much as raw picking.

What Is in the Printable

The one-page sheet has a header for your name, the week, and the date, followed by a 16-row grid with the point values already filled in from 16 down to 1. Each row has columns for the away team, the home team, your pick, and the points you won, plus a weekly total box at the bottom. A short how-it-works note sits at the top, so a first-time player can fill it out without any explanation. Print a fresh copy for each player every week.

Confidence Pool Strategy Tips

  • Save your highest point values for the biggest favorites, not the most exciting matchups.
  • Be careful stacking big points on divisional games, which tend to stay close.
  • Check the bye weeks first, then assign points only to the games actually being played.
  • Over an 18-week season, steady accuracy usually beats chasing upsets.
