How the NFL playoff bracket works
The NFL postseason sends 14 teams to the bracket, seven per conference. Each conference seeds its four division winners 1 through 4 and its three wild card teams 5 through 7. The No. 1 seed earns the bye. Wild Card weekend pairs the 2 seed with the 7, the 3 with the 6, and the 4 with the 5. The Divisional round reseeds so the top surviving seed draws the lowest one left, then the two conference championships set the matchup for Super Bowl LXI.
