This special edition of the Daily Sports Risk Report brings the $BRACKETS High Limit Room’s risk intelligence to the full MLB Playoff Predictions board: a run differential model, a projected bracket from the Wild Card round to the World Series, and tiered series angles. Every card carries an explicit Position line, including the cards where the honest position is to stay out, and most of them are exactly that today. Predictions here are probabilities, not promises, and even the most likely champion in the field is closer to a one in four shot than a certainty.

How These MLB Playoff Predictions Are Built
The model treats each run of per game run differential as worth about ten points of single game win probability, gives the home team a four point edge, and then plays out the real series formats: best of three in the Wild Card round, best of five in the Division Series, and best of seven after that. It uses full season run differential because it is a steadier read on team quality than record, and it ignores starting pitchers, injuries, and bullpen usage. That gap is deliberate and it matters: when the model and the posted Game 1 price disagree, the disagreement is treated as a trap alert, not an edge. The percentages below are model outputs, not market prices.
The MLB Playoff Predictions Bracket

The green path is the likelier side in every series, taken one round at a time. That is not the same as the likeliest outcome: the full path is far less probable than any single pick on it, which is why the title probabilities in the table matter more than the path.
| Team (seed) | Reach LCS | Reach World Series | Win World Series |
|---|---|---|---|
| Milwaukee Brewers (NL 1) | 64.6% | 37.5% | 26.1% |
| Los Angeles Dodgers (NL 2) | 65.1% | 34.4% | 23.4% |
| Tampa Bay Rays (AL 1) | 48.2% | 29.3% | 10.9% |
| New York Yankees (AL 4) | 33.5% | 22.6% | 9.9% |
| Chicago Cubs (NL 5) | 21.9% | 10.3% | 6.2% |
| Atlanta Braves (NL 3) | 25.2% | 10.5% | 5.9% |
| Cleveland Guardians (AL 2) | 51.2% | 18.8% | 5.1% |
| Chicago White Sox (AL 6) | 28.0% | 11.9% | 3.9% |
| Boston Red Sox (AL 5) | 18.3% | 10.9% | 3.9% |
| San Diego Padres (NL 4) | 13.5% | 4.5% | 2.1% |
| Houston Astros (AL 3) | 20.8% | 6.5% | 1.5% |
| Philadelphia Phillies (NL 6) | 9.7% | 2.7% | 1.2% |
🟢 Green Tier: Low Risk, High Probability
No green tier series today. With no current price on any series and only a run differential model behind these numbers, nothing clears the low-risk bar.
🟡 Yellow Tier: Moderate Risk, High Value
Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves (NL Wild Card Series, best of three)
Matchup and time: Game 1 is Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves, 2:00 PM EDT / 11:00 AM PDT, Truist Park. All three games are in Atlanta, and later dates are set by MLB if needed.
PositionAtlanta Braves to win the series. Half a unit, only at a price of -170 or better; otherwise no position.
Target Angle: Series moneyline, Atlanta to advance. Model probability 65.1%. Game 1 market snapshot: Atlanta -205, total 6.5 (DraftKings, will move). The series price was not available at time of writing, so confirm it before entry.
Analytical Breakdown: Atlanta finished 94-68 with a +116 run differential against Philadelphia’s 88-74 and +15, and the higher seed hosts every game of this round. Chris Sale (2.16 ERA, 0.98 WHIP) starts Game 1 against Jesús Luzardo (2.86 ERA, 1.07 WHIP), a fair test for Atlanta’s edge. A 65% chance still means Philadelphia wins about one series in three, which is why this stays yellow.
Min-Risk Strategy: Half a unit at the stated price limit only, since -170 implies a 63% breakeven, which leaves only a thin margin over the 65% model read. The First 5 position in today’s main report shares the same driver, so treat the two together as roughly one and a half units rather than stacking them. Voids as a read if Sale is scratched.
Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees (AL Wild Card Series, best of three)
Matchup and time: Game 1 is Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees, 8:00 PM EDT / 5:00 PM PDT, Yankee Stadium. All three games are in New York, and later dates are set by MLB if needed.
PositionNew York Yankees to win the series. Half a unit, only at a price of -140 or better; otherwise no position.
Target Angle: Series moneyline, New York to advance. Model probability 61.5%. Game 1 market snapshot: New York -145, total 6.5 (DraftKings, will move). The series price was not available at time of writing, so confirm it before entry.
Analytical Breakdown: New York’s +138 run differential is the best in the American League field and well above Boston’s +78, and Cam Schlittler enters Game 1 with a 1.95 ERA and 0.92 WHIP. Payton Tolle (3.03 ERA) is capable, but a best of three format gives a good team fewer games to separate itself, so a 61.5% model read is a modest edge.
Min-Risk Strategy: Half a unit at the stated price limit only. The First 5 position in today’s main report shares the same Schlittler driver, so treat the pair as roughly one and a half units. Voids as a read if either Game 1 starter changes.
🔴 Red Tier: High Variance, Trap Alert
Chicago White Sox at Houston Astros (AL Wild Card Series, best of three)
Matchup and time: Game 1 is Chicago White Sox at Houston Astros, 5:00 PM EDT / 2:00 PM PDT, Daikin Park. Later dates are set by MLB if needed.
PositionNo position on the series. Revisit only if a conventional starter is confirmed and a series price is available.
Target Angle: None. Model probability: Chicago 52.1%, Houston 47.9%. Game 1 market snapshot: Houston -126, total 8.0 (DraftKings, will move).
Analytical Breakdown: The model and the Game 1 price point in opposite directions: Chicago has the better run differential (+56 against Houston’s -32), while the market favors the home team. Both listed probable pitchers, Hagen Smith and AJ Blubaugh, have worked almost entirely in relief, so this looks like a bullpen game, which the model does not account for.
Min-Risk Strategy: No position on the series. A disagreement between the model and the market, plus unclear starters, is a trap alert and not an opening.
Chicago Cubs at San Diego Padres (NL Wild Card Series, best of three)
Matchup and time: Game 1 is Chicago Cubs at San Diego Padres, 10:00 PM EDT / 7:00 PM PDT, Petco Park. Later dates are set by MLB if needed.
PositionNo position on the series.
Target Angle: None. Model probability: Chicago 53.8%, San Diego 46.2%. Game 1 market snapshot: San Diego -130, total 7.0 (DraftKings, will move).
Analytical Breakdown: The Cubs carry a +147 run differential against San Diego’s +41, but San Diego finished 91-71 and hosts all three games, and the market prices the Padres as the favorite. Michael King (3.21 ERA) and Matthew Boyd (3.91 ERA) do not separate cleanly, so the model has a small lean the price does not share.
Min-Risk Strategy: No position on the series. A small model lean against the market favorite is not enough to size.
🔴 Division Series Projections (Opponents Not Yet Set)
Each Division Series opponent depends on a Wild Card result that has not happened yet, so the cards below carry the model’s unconditional advance probability and the conditional numbers for each possible opponent. None of them can be priced or sized today, which is why each one is a red card with an explicit no position.
American League Division Series: Tampa Bay Rays vs Yankees or Red Sox
Matchup and time: Tampa Bay Rays vs New York Yankees or Boston Red Sox. Division Series, dates and times set by MLB once the Wild Card round finishes and not confirmed at time of writing.
PositionNo position until the opponent and the series price are set.
Target Angle: None. Model advance probability: Tampa Bay 48.2%, New York 33.5%, Boston 18.3%. Against the Yankees Tampa Bay is 45.5%, against the Red Sox 52.4%.
Analytical Breakdown: Tampa Bay was the top seed at 98-64 with a +86 run differential, but the model rates the Yankees higher on run differential (+138), so the bye and home field are worth less than the seed suggests. The bracket path takes the Yankees, a thin 54.5% read.
Min-Risk Strategy: No position. Revisit when the Wild Card result is final and a series price exists.
American League Division Series: Cleveland Guardians vs Astros or White Sox
Matchup and time: Cleveland Guardians vs Houston Astros or Chicago White Sox. Division Series, dates and times set by MLB once the Wild Card round finishes and not confirmed at time of writing.
PositionNo position until the opponent and the series price are set.
Target Angle: None. Model advance probability: Cleveland 51.2%, Chicago 28.0%, Houston 20.8%. Against Houston Cleveland is 56.5%, against Chicago 46.3%.
Analytical Breakdown: Cleveland won the division at 85-77 but with only a +11 run differential, the weakest of the six American League teams by that measure apart from Houston. The bracket path takes the White Sox in a 53.7% read, which is close to a coin flip.
Min-Risk Strategy: No position. The Wild Card winner here is the least certain in the field.
National League Division Series: Milwaukee Brewers vs Padres or Cubs
Matchup and time: Milwaukee Brewers vs San Diego Padres or Chicago Cubs. Division Series, dates and times set by MLB once the Wild Card round finishes and not confirmed at time of writing.
PositionNo position until the opponent and the series price are set.
Target Angle: None. Model advance probability: Milwaukee 64.6%, Chicago 21.9%, San Diego 13.5%. Against San Diego Milwaukee is 70.8%, against Chicago 59.2%.
Analytical Breakdown: Milwaukee owns the best record in baseball at 103-59 and a +214 run differential, and the model treats it as the strongest team in the field. The check on that view is a short series, where even a 70% side loses roughly one in three.
Min-Risk Strategy: No position. If a price after the Wild Card round is at least a few points better than the model number, revisit.
National League Division Series: Los Angeles Dodgers vs Braves or Phillies
Matchup and time: Los Angeles Dodgers vs Atlanta Braves or Philadelphia Phillies. Division Series, dates and times set by MLB once the Wild Card round finishes and not confirmed at time of writing.
PositionNo position until the opponent and the series price are set.
Target Angle: None. Model advance probability: Los Angeles 65.1%, Atlanta 25.2%, Philadelphia 9.7%. Against Philadelphia Los Angeles is 72.2%, against Atlanta 61.3%.
Analytical Breakdown: Los Angeles went 100-62 with a +201 run differential, a near match for Milwaukee, and faces the Wild Card winner from a series that Atlanta is favored to win. A Braves opponent would make this the tighter of the two National League Division Series.
Min-Risk Strategy: No position. Revisit once the opponent is known and a series price is available.
🔴 World Series Outlook
2026 World Series Winner (Futures)
Matchup and time: World Series dates and times are set by MLB and not confirmed at time of writing.
PositionNo position on the World Series winner.
Target Angle: None. Model title probability: Milwaukee 26.1%, Los Angeles 23.4%, Tampa Bay 10.9%, New York 9.9%.
Analytical Breakdown: Even the model favorite wins the title about one time in four, which means a futures price on Milwaukee has to be better than roughly +283 to match the model probability, before allowing for any error in the model itself. The model uses run differential only, so it will be wrong wherever pitching depth or injuries matter, and that is most of October.
Min-Risk Strategy: No position. Revisit after the Division Series, when the field is down to four teams and the price can be compared to a smaller set of outcomes.
