Injury Watch: QB Changes That Move These Picks
Two quarterback situations shifted after this board was first set, and both nudge the value.
Eagles at Bears (Monday night): Chicago is thin at quarterback. Caleb Williams is week-to-week with a hamstring injury and backup Tyson Bagent is in the concussion protocol, which puts veteran Case Keenum in line to start. That is enough for us to come off the Bears at -1.5 and lean the Eagles.
Seahawks at Commanders: Jayden Daniels is out with an elbow injury, so Marcus Mariota draws the start for Washington. A backup under center only firms up our Seattle side at -3.5.
Titans at Giants: Rookie Jaxson Dart is out with a concussion, so Russell Wilson is back under center for New York. The Giants stay favored at -3.5, but a veteran-led offense is a different look than the one this number was built on.
Falcons at Packers (Thursday): Atlanta turns to left-hander Michael Penix Jr. at quarterback. Green Bay is still our side at -7.5 in the opener, but Penix gives the Falcons a higher ceiling than the market expected.
Upset Watch
Cowboys over Ravens. Baltimore is a 2.5-point road favorite, but this is the highest total on the board at 51.5 for a reason. Both offenses can score in bunches, and Dallas at home in a track-meet script is exactly the kind of live home dog we like. Give us the Cowboys to win it outright, not just cover.
Broncos over Rams. Los Angeles laying 3.5 on the road at altitude is a tough ask in late September. Denver has the pass rush to make a rhythm passer uncomfortable, and Mile High is a real edge in a one-score game. We will take the Broncos to spring the upset.
Best Bets and Leans
- Broncos +3.5. Our headline upset doubles as our favorite number on the card. The points plus the altitude is a strong combination.
- Under 39.5 in Panthers at Browns. This is the lowest total of the week. A grind-it-out game between two defense-first teams can stay under even in a tight finish.
- Cardinals +11.5. Double-digit road spreads in September division games tend to tighten late. We would rather have the points than lay them with San Francisco.

Storylines to Watch
San Francisco is the biggest favorite of the week, laying 11.5 at home against Arizona. Numbers that large shift the focus to backdoor covers and whether the starters stay on the field into the fourth quarter.
The Eagles close the week as road underdogs in Chicago, but that line was set before the Bears’ quarterback room thinned out (see the injury note above). With Caleb Williams and Tyson Bagent both banged up, a short-handed Chicago offense makes this Monday nighter a much better get-right spot for Philadelphia.
Three of the tightest lines on the board are road favorites, with the Panthers, Bengals and Texans all laying 1.5 away from home. Those coin-flip games are where pick pools get decided. Meanwhile Chargers at Bills and Chiefs at Dolphins hand the AFC picture its first real measuring sticks of the season.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the best Week 3 upset picks?
We like the Cowboys to beat the Ravens outright at home in the highest-total game of the week, and the Broncos to knock off the Rams at altitude as home underdogs. Both are one-score projections rather than blowout calls.
Where do the spreads come from?
The spreads and totals here match our Week 3 pick’em with odds page and reflect consensus market numbers as of publication. Lines move during the week, so confirm the current number before you lock anything in.
Is there a printable pick sheet?
Yes. The free printable pick sheet above lists every game with the spread and over/under and leaves blank columns for your pick and the final score. It opens in a new tab and links back to this article.
