What the Week 2 Lines Are Telling Us

The board opens with three double-digit favorites: the San Francisco 49ers (-10.5) at home against Miami, the Seattle Seahawks (-10) on the road in Arizona, and the Los Angeles Rams (-9.5) hosting the Giants on Monday night. The biggest number on a road team is Seattle, a rare double-digit away spread that will be worth watching as the week develops.

For totals, the Thursday opener between Detroit and Buffalo tops the slate at 52.5, followed by the NFC East clash of Washington at Dallas at 51.5, both signaling shootout expectations. At the other end, a cluster of games sits at 42.5 (Steelers-Patriots, Packers-Jets, Browns-Buccaneers, Eagles-Titans), so those are the spots the market sees playing low and slow. The tightest spreads, Falcons -1.5 and the near pick’em games, are the ones most likely to swing after Week 1.

How to Run a Week 2 Pick’em Pool

Print one sheet per player. Each person circles the team they think will cover the spread in every game (and optionally the over or under). Score one point per correct pick against the spread; the most points wins the week. For a tiebreaker, have players guess the total combined points in the Monday night game, New York Giants at Los Angeles Rams. Because these are look-ahead lines, you can also lock your pool to the numbers on this sheet so everyone plays the same spreads all week.
