How a Swiss Tournament Works
In a Swiss system, no one is eliminated. Every player plays all 4 rounds, and each round you pair players who have the same record so far. Winners meet winners and losers meet losers, so strong players rise to the top without needing a full round robin. After 4 rounds the player with the most points wins, with tiebreakers such as head-to-head or Buchholz if needed. It is the standard format for chess and many esports and tabletop events because it ranks a large field fairly in just a few rounds.
