How do the 16 regional host sites work?
Each of the 16 campus host sites features a localized, four-team double-elimination bracket. The host school is automatically awarded the No. 1 seed in their local cluster. The remaining 48 teams are split across these 16 locations based on geographical proximity and competitive balancing parameters set by the selection committee.
Does the NCAA baseball tournament re-seed the field?
No, the tournament utilizes a completely fixed 64-team bracket format. The committee maps out the entire route through the Regionals, Super Regionals, and the Men’s College World Series before the first pitch is thrown. The field is never re-seeded, meaning lower-seed bracket upsets can completely alter who holds home-field advantage in the later rounds.
