The 2026 Landscape: Indianapolis and Phoenix Bound As of March 4, 2026, the bracketology is shifting by the hour. From the Sports Brackets Analysts:

• The Men’s Field: The path to Indianapolis runs through a gauntlet of powerhouses. Duke and Arizona are currently fighting for the #1 overall seed, but keep an eye on the First Four in Dayton, where several high-major programs are projected to fight for their lives.
• The Women’s Field: For the first time ever, the Final Four is heading to Phoenix. UConn enters March as the heavy favorite to repeat, but the regional pods in Fort Worth and Sacramento look increasingly dangerous for top seeds.

Here’s the schedule, brackets, and printables for the biggest ones. here are 31 automatic qualifying bids (conference tournament champions) this season. 37 of the 68 teams in March Madness will be at-large selections. The PAC-12 does not qualify for an automatic bid this year. 

2025-26 Regular Season Recap: A Year of Powerhouses and Cinderellas

As we head into the 2026 postseason, the story of the 2025-26 college basketball season has been defined by the dominance of established blue bloods and the emergence of a historic mid-major threat.

• The Race for the #1 Overall Seed: Duke and Michigan have spent the better part of February and March swapping the top spot in the AP Poll. Under Jon Scheyer, the Blue Devils have won 17 of their last 18 games, while the Wolverines captured the Big Ten regular-season title in dominant fashion.
• The Unbeaten Cinderella: Perhaps the biggest storyline of 2026 is Miami (Ohio). The RedHawks finished the regular season with a perfect 30-0 record, sparking nationwide debate about whether a MAC team deserves a protected seed in the bracket.
• Conference Chaos: The Big 12 has solidified itself as the deepest conference in the country, with Arizona clinching its first-ever Big 12 regular-season title after a late-season surge against Houston and Kansas. Meanwhile, the SEC remains a “Bubble Bloodbath,” with as many as 10 teams vying for a spot in the field of 68.
• Women’s Dominance: On the women’s side, UConn has reclaimed its throne as the definitive team to beat, heading into March with a perfect 31-0 record. However, the rise of UCLA and South Carolina ensures that the road to the Phoenix Final Four will be the most competitive in years.

Conference Realignment for the 2025-26 College Basketball Season

While it’s not as crazy as the 2025-26 college basketball season, we do have a number of schools in new conferences this year. We have all of the info for you below. 

What teams are moving to the new PAC-12? 

For the 2025-26 basketball season, Oregon State and Washington State are the only two teams in the PAC-12. Then, it’s game on for the 2026-27 season. The teams listed below will be making the transition for the PAC-12 rebirth season.
