The 2024 Olympic Women’s basketball schedule takes place in Paris, France from July 27th to August 11th, 2024. The women’s preliminary stage games (or matches to use FIBA speak) take place at Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Lille. The knock-out phase of the women’s tournament is held at Bercy Arena (previously referred to as Accor Arena) in Paris. We’ll see 12 teams compete for the opportunity to take home the Gold in Paris. Unlike the men’s Olympic basketball schedule, we already have the 12 teams set for the women.
Where Does the Olympics Group Phase of Play Take Place?
The 2024 Olympics preliminary phase (or to use soccer speak, group phase) is played at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Lille. The final phase (or knockout phase) of the tournament shifts to Bercy Arena. This locale is also known as the Accor Arena and is in Paris, France. Just like the men’s olympic basketball schedule, the women’s is set to take place after the 2024 NBA Playoffs and several months before the 2024 WNBA playoffs (the WNBA is on a 30 day break for the Paris Olympic games).
Which Teams have Secured a Spot in the Paris 2024 Basketball Tournament?
All 12 teams have earned their spots for the women’s Olympic basketball competition. They were assigned to three groups at the Olympic women’s draw. The 12 teams who earned spots at the Paris Olympics are: Serbia, Spain, China, Puerto Rico, Canada, Nigeria, Australia, France, Germany, USA, Japan, and Belgium. This will let us really scrutinize the potential matchups here for the next several months. Unlike the men’s side where we still have four teams left to earn spots in the Olympics.
What are the 2024 OlympicWomen’s Basketball Schedule Groups?
The draw was held at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland for the groups in the women’s tournament. The resulting group assignments are laid out below.

How Does the Women’s Olympic Basketball Tournament Work?
So, each group completes round robin play. Then, the top two teams are automatically in to the next round. To make an even number of teams, the two best third place teams from the three groups get to make the quarterfinals to even things out. Once in the quarterfinals, it’s single elimination, win or go home until the semifinals. Then, we do have a bronze medal game for the two teams who lose in the semi-final round of play. The winners play for the gold.

The 2024 Olympic women’s basketball schedule is laid out below. As we get additional fidelity on some of the times and such, we’ll update you here. If you are planning to travel to France for the event, I recommend looking at using the Paris Métro to get around the city. TRUST me….first time we went there, we drove over from Stuttgart. Did not think about the metro, and paid for it in wasted time. Next trip, we were like pros at it 🙂 Anyway, back to the schedules.
