The 2024 Iowa football schedule kicks off on Saturday, August 31st at home against Illinois State. They play their in-state rivalry game against Iowa State on September 7th at home as well. The Hawkeyes start Big-Ten play on the road at Minnesota on September 21st. Iowa completes regular season play on Friday, November 29th against Nebraska at home.
Similar to the Washington – Washington State rivalry game, the Iowa State game was moved to the beginning of the season to ensure the conference schedule takes precedence in the second-half of the Iowa schedule.

Iowa sees significant expansion in the Big Ten this year for football. The 2024 college football regular season will see 18 teams in conference play. Oregon, Washington, USC, and UCLA join the mix this season. The Big Ten got rid of divisions this year.
