FINAL WOMEN’S UPDATE + MEN’S PROGRESS – February 19, 2026 (Post-Women’s Gold): The women’s ice hockey tournament wrapped dramatically on Thursday with Team USA defeating rival Canada 2-1 in overtime for the gold medal at Milano Santagiulia Arena—USA’s third Olympic women’s title (1998, 2018). Hilary Knight tied it late in the third (57:56, extra attacker deflection), and Megan Keller scored the OT winner (4:07, assisted by Taylor Heise) after Canada’s Kristin O’Neill opened scoring shorthanded in the second. Switzerland took bronze 2-1 OT over Sweden earlier. USA dominated throughout (unbeaten, including prelim shutout of Canada). 2026 NHL Playoff Schedule
Once the 2026 Milan Olympics are over, we get to go back to the NHL for about 6-8 weeks of regular season play. Then, we can look forward to the 2026 Stanley Cup and NHL Playoffs kicking off in mid-late April as we’ve all become accustomed to. 2026 definitely looks to be a fun year for hockey.
