FINAL WOMEN’S UPDATE + MEN’S PROGRESS – February 19, 2026 (Post-Women’s Gold): The women’s ice hockey tournament wrapped dramatically on Thursday with Team USA defeating rival Canada 2-1 in overtime for the gold medal at Milano Santagiulia Arena—USA’s third Olympic women’s title (1998, 2018). Hilary Knight tied it late in the third (57:56, extra attacker deflection), and Megan Keller scored the OT winner (4:07, assisted by Taylor Heise) after Canada’s Kristin O’Neill opened scoring shorthanded in the second. Switzerland took bronze 2-1 OT over Sweden earlier. USA dominated throughout (unbeaten, including prelim shutout of Canada). On the men’s side, quarterfinals concluded Feb 18 with three OT thrillers: USA 2-1 OT Sweden (Quinn Hughes GWG), Canada 4-3 OT Czechia (Mitch Marner OT), Finland 3-2 OT Switzerland. Slovakia advanced earlier 6-2 over Germany. Semifinals Friday Feb 20: Canada vs Finland (10:40 AM ET), USA vs Slovakia (3:10 PM ET). Bronze Saturday Feb 21, gold Sunday Feb 22.

2026 NHL Playoff Schedule

Once the 2026 Milan Olympics are over, we get to go back to the NHL for about 6-8 weeks of regular season play. Then, we can look forward to the 2026 Stanley Cup and NHL Playoffs kicking off in mid-late April as we’ve all become accustomed to. 2026 definitely looks to be a fun year for hockey.
