When the Peach Bowl first got started in 1968, it featured an ACC team against an at-large opponent. Prior to 1993, there were not any automatic berths to the bowl. If there was not an ACC team picked to play, then a SEC one played in the game. Then, from 1993-2013 the bowl game featured the SEC against the ACC. The bowl is also the first charity bowl and was created as a fund-raiser by the Lions Clubs of Georgia.
