The 2024 WNBA draft order is set. The WNBA draft lottery took place on December 10th, 2023, to finalize the top four picks, and we are all set for the draft. All three rounds of the WNBA draft will take place on April 15th, 2024. This will be the 29th draft in the history of the WNBA. It will be held at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in Brooklyn, New York.
How was the 2024 WNBA Draft Order Determined?
The following methodology is used by the WNBA to determine the 2024 WNBA draft order. The first four picks are determined by the draft lottery. Non-playoff teams are eligible for the drawing. The odds for the picks are weighted based on the respective teams cumulative record over the past two seasons. The first and second picks are awarded by drawing ping pong balls (have to be separate teams).
Remaining lottery teams are sorted out by the record over the last two seasons (these are the third and fourth picks. The rest of the picks in the first round are sorted by regular season record. The 2nd and 3rd rounds in the WNBA draft just use the current season record for the draft order.
2024 WNBA Draft Lottery
The WNBA held the draft lottery on December 10th, 2023. The event was televised on ESPN. The Indiana Fever won the lottery for the second time in their franchise history and are expected to draft Iowa women’s basketball star, Caitlin Clark, with the pick. The following is the draft lottery order and the odds of each team to win the first pick.

The records listed are for the 2023 record (different than the combined records used for the lottery). It should be a fun draft to watch. This will be the first time since 2016 that fans are allowed to watch the fun. The draft is timed out to let the dust settle on the 2024 Women’s March Madness bracket finals. It is anticipated to be one of the most popular WNBA draft events ever. *Updated March 26 after trades.
